THE OFFICIAL WEBCAST OF
THE
2008 INTERNATIONAL QUILT FESTIVAL/LONG BEACH!
Welcome to a “virtual tour” of the very first edition of our new annual show! We hope that you’ll be able to share some of the excitement of Festival from your own computer with this exclusive webcast.
In addition to seeing many wonderful quilts that are on display, we’ll be taking photos during the show and posting them online the next day in the “Classes” and “On the Show Floor” sections. And we’ll also be posting video clips shortly after the show featuring guided tours of selected special exhibits and interviews with teachers and students.
We’re happy that you’ll be joining us as we grow this webcast and provide the best coverage of the show for our visitors—both on-site and “online”—from all over the world!
A special note from Festival Director Karey Bresenhan.
Festival Director Karey Bresenhan
Welcome to the very first International Quilt Festival/Long Beach! My staff and I are thrilled to present this third edition of Festival, our first ever on the West Coast!
Launching a new show always presents its unique challenges, accompanied by literally hundreds of decisions to be made. When we decided to add a third Festival, we considered many different cities, carefully looking at their convention centers, hotels, travel access, etc. on numerous site inspections up and down the West Coast for many years. Long Beach was the clear winner, and the show you are enjoying now was itself two years in the planning stages.
Here in Long Beach, you’ll find many aspects of Festival that are similar to our Houston and Chicago editions—there’s great shopping, exciting classes and lectures, and wonderful special exhibits. But it’s not just a copycat show—many of its features are unique to Long Beach, and that includes four “California-centric” exhibits, which reflect the unique culture and landscape of the region: “The Silver Screen,” “Surf’s Up!” “West Coast Wonders,” and “Everything Under the Sun.”
You can join us next year for the 2009 edition of International Quilt Festival/Long Beach, July 24-26, right back here at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center. I hope that you enjoy our show!
Sincerely,
