Cheryl Sleboda named Coordinator for debut Threads of Success conference this fall!
HOUSTON – July 1, 2019 – Quilts, Inc.—producers of the consumer show International Quilt Festival and trade show International Quilt Market—has named Cheryl Sleboda as Coordinator of the company’s new companion conference, Threads of Success.
Threads of Success will run October 25-28, 2019 and concurrently with the fall edition of International Quilt Market in Houston, Texas. Threads of Success is geared specifically for those who are either new to or want to break into the quilting or sewing industries as a pattern or fabric designer, writer, teacher, retailer, or inventor.
“Joining the Quilts, Inc. team gives me a chance to leverage not only my many years of experience as an executive in a similar niche industry, but also my background with diverse solo, small, and mid-size companies and helping them grow,” Sleboda says.
“Threads of Success represents a focus on supporting and sustaining new businesses in the quilt and sewing field. And I'm very excited and honored to be a part of that.”
Sleboda is an award-winning quilter, lecturer, teacher, and author who runs two businesses: merchandise and media company Muppin Inc., and Sew Much Cosplay which targets the burgeoning audience for and creators of fantasy costuming and cosplay.
Threads of Success will consist of four keynote lectures and 35 individual sessions from more than 20 industry experts along four specific focus tracks. Threads of Success will also feature social and networking events, a mentorship session with different well-known industry names, access to Market’s Schoolhouse Series, and time on the Quilt Market show floor.
Sleboda’s duties will include overseeing most aspects of the conference, as well as planning, promotion, and selecting faculty and speakers for future editions. She will work with Quilts, Inc. Vice President of Education Marcia Barker and Vice President of Resource Development Teresa Duggan.
“Cheryl brings an undeniable tidal wave of ideas to a conference that centers on a topic very close to her heart—entrepreneurship!” Barker says. “We are excited and happy to welcome her positive presence on this project and look forward to working together.”
“Threads of Success is an exciting forum for businesses of all kinds in the quilting and sewing industry to gather and learn from experts in the field, as well as network with each other and with the companies vending at Quilt Market,” Sleboda sums up.
“This is an incredible ‘leg up’ opportunity for designers, makers, teachers, writers, online content creators, and more to come together and create amazing businesses. The conference is exactly the type of education and programming I wish had been available to me when I started my business nearly 10 years ago!”
