Working in a series is a great way to play with color and composition. In this workshop, create a series of three small fabric collages using vintage bird illustrations printed on silk organza, fabric scraps, and hand stitching. Explore design principles like contrast, balance, emphasis, repetition, rhythm, and pattern in the creation of your three 6 inch x 6 inch fabric collages. Using raw-edge fabric collage and simple embroidery stitches, by the end of the day, have a small series of three bird collages. Lisa will teach simple Running stitch, Seed stitch, and Blanket stitch to novice hand sewists. Those with more embroidery experience can use all the flourishes and flare they choose.
