Beginner/Intermediate, Project Oriented, Process Oriented, Hand Work, Advance Preparation Required (prepare quilt sandwich)
Sunday
Morning Class // 8 am-Noon
Full title—Big-Stitch Hand Quilting—Boro and Beyond. Don't let the tiny stitches of traditional hand quilting scare you from finishing your quilt tops. Try this modern method for adding texture and interest to finish your projects! Borrowing skills from Japanese Boro stitching, Kawandi-style quilts, and Kantha cloth, create modern masterpieces. After practicing on a small sample, start work on a small student-provided quilt sandwich. Select an orphan block for your quilt sandwich that can become a potholder, a small table runner in progress, or a more ambitious small quilt top. Using perle cotton or Sashiko thread and a large needle (think longer Sashiko needles), add design and texture to your quilt for a folksy finish.
