In this class, Miri will demonstrate the Log Cabin quilt technique and pattern on pins. The artwork is done with a double winding technique. Each pin contains nine shades of thread. She will teach two kinds of techniques. The first is 10 cm x 10 cm and contains embroidery threads. The second is a clothing pin containing nine sewing threads. By end of class, a black and white pin will be handed to all participants as a gift.

This workshop introduces a raw-edge patchwork technique in which participants develop their own design concept and arrange fabrics freely according to their intended composition. Moving beyond traditional block-based patchwork, JongKeong proposes a more contemporary approach that deconstructs and reconstructs the surface to create dynamic, expressive structures. Using zigzag or free-motion stitching, participants will construct both straight and curved forms with flexibility and fluidity. The class also addresses secure raw-edge stabilization techniques and explores how stitch density can influence surface texture and visual impact, allowing students to balance structural stability with artistic freedom. A key focus of this workshop is the use of mesh fabrics and intentional cutwork to create spatial depth. By incorporating transparency and negative space, participants will build layered structures that invite light and background to interact with the surface. The result is a more dimensional, contemporary quilt expression. This workshop is designed for all skill levels. Beginners will gain confidence in exploring new compositional approaches, while experienced quilters can expand and refine their personal design language. In this hands-on workshop, students will choose from a varied collection of pre-printed, full-color direct to film (DTF) iron-on motifs, patterns, and design elements to create their own custom fabric compositions. Participants will learn how to arrange and combine these designs to build unique quilt blocks, mini whole-cloth quilts, or original fabric panels that can later be incorporated into larger quilt projects. Gain practical experience using both household irons and portable heat presses to properly apply DTF transfers to quilting cotton. Emphasis will be placed on placement, design balance, and achieving clean, durable results. By the end of class, each student will leave with a personalized fabric piece ready for quilting, embellishing, or further creative exploration. Skills covered—fabric compatibility, heat press vs. home iron, peeling techniques (hot vs. cold), preventing cracking or lifting, washing and care.
